oddly enough, my first time through "advanced" portions of the game, i've had people complement me on my wa/mo playing for saving the group from a wipe and other times.

so, some people out there actually appreciate wa/mo's...

My highest lvl character is my W/Mo. I have managed to learn and master the ability to take an a$$ whoopin and keep on fighting...we are an essential part of this game, just as important as the rest. We might be treated like animals and fight the enemy at point blank range and keep them at striking distance for the casters and rangers. We do make some of the best runners in the game. We are built tough, our armor is built tough!!! We do have those folks who hold the title and shamefully represent our importance on the battleground. Use us or abuse us...We will suffer in silence in defeat and celebrate proudly in our victories!!!

Yeah, my highest level char is W/Mo as well and I absolutely love him.
I've tried just about all combinations and have found only a few I like, and, ironically enough, when playing missions, I seem to be the one doing the majority of the healing because it's the monks who have no idea what they're doing. THEN I get yelled at to 'go kill shit' because I'm spending too much time 'standing around', when in actual fact I'm healing their asses.

It's sad.

People generalize because they think that they need the best character, so they save up for the best, and to me, the best characters happen to be the most over-played, like SS Necros and 55 Monks.
True I'm saving for a 55 monk but that's purely because I want to see what it's like and to make money to support my other characters.
In the last 2 weeks, playing missions and helping out with my Wammo, I've died purely on the other players stupidity.

I also love when people have Fissure armor or 15k, and immediately think they are the best players, when in actual fact if you play with them, they know RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO all about the build they're using, if it's a literal build at all and not just random skills thrown into the bar. The only difference to me between Droks and Grotto is the appearance, and I could really care less. I don't go in fighting wondering whether my character looks sexy or not, I wonder if I have the proper protection so I don't get owned.

There's a HUGE difference between PvP, GvG and PvE and I think a lot of people like to assume that because they play in a big guild and do a lot of PvP, their characters are the shit compared to others, and particularly PvE'rs, so it's funny when you ask them certain questions about PvE and they give you a bullshit response. Ah .. ignorance. WEEEE.

Sorry for long response ... touchy subject.

Meh, my first character was a Whammo..didn't change my secondary for a long time and since its only used for farming I'm a W/Mo 90% of the time. (Or a W/Me, a Whammey. )

I've never taken flack for this profession, but then again I never pvp with her, or am in pug groups all the time. Doing THK and failing so many times led me to bring 2-3 Res skills, and as useless as that was I didn't mind it.

Its been my idea that a Warrior and a W/mo makes the best first character as its easy to understand and simple to run. (hit enemy>they die)

my .02 cents.

Agreed.
And that's what a lot of people will say, that W/Mo's are chosen due to how easy they are to get the hang of. Compared to something completely off the charts I'd say they're probably the easiest build to learn with.

I find my problem is (and as someone stated above), when looking to go questing or to do missions, nobody accepts a W/Mo unless they're either desperate, looking for a tank, or they actually don't care and just want to kill shit. I've found that some of the best people I've met in GW are the ones that just don't care, about anything, and just have fun.

Some of the people who play this game take it so seriously and it makes me laugh, because that's all it is, a game.

I never understood the whole 'noob' insult thing either. I undnerstand why people say it, but in all honesty, everybody who plays a game has to start out somewhere, nobody plays it with every detail pre-learned. I think it's a bit different if someone's actually being an idiot and has no idea in hell what theyr'e doing after already getting to level 20 and max armor etc. (which, I find funny that they can get the money for by simply asking a friend ... that never works for me). I love when people call W/Mo's noobs, just makes me laugh because it's so stupid.
